Increase the skills, attitudes and efficiency of your workplace with individual and group training and coaching.

Case Study. Let me tell you about a newbie manager I met a few years ago.  He was a lawyer in Eastern Europe, got a job selling paint in a building supply store. He was calm, he was patient but he had a few really difficult people on his team.  Two threw paint cans at each other in their escalating cat fight.  The reason: one had ‘adjusted’ the ‘perfect’ display of the second.   Another worker blamed the behaviour of others for his excessive alcohol consumption on his breaks.  The previous manager enabled all this because these staff were like ‘family’ – been there for decades and thought they’d last until they aged out.

Did I mention that their current manager had a drug addiction and was high most of the time, changing strategies and directions weekly?  No one knew what was expected.  The ‘family owners got that manager to get treatment and promoted the former lawyer.  He brought in a HiQ consultant and 2 coaches.

My team went to work with the newbie manager. We conducted an Engagement Survey, worked with department heads to define performance metrics.  We gave them advice on how to resolve conflict.  A few were coached in assertiveness and goal setting.  We gave the cat fighters better problem solving and communication skills and they fired the  alcoholic.  As a result, things really got better, and not just for the manager.

Results

Their supply store is currently a leading edge business with record profits, happy teams, and amazingly productive workers, proud of their work, their company and their increasing commitment to their community.
